Students take concepts learned in the classroom and apply them in new and innovative ways. This program focuses on developing problem-solving, oral and written communication, creative and informative writing skills, and higher-level thinking skills (Bloom’s Taxonomy).

Selected students in grades third through sixth  are taken out of class once a week for 40 minutes with Ms.Fleming.  Students work on projects that pertain to, but are not limited to, the STEAM areas of the curriculum. The projects often utilize technology, such as making movies, presentations, or news reports for the IHM TV station.

ALPHA students have participated in the national program, Destination Imagination.  This challenge program teaches students the creative process and empowers them with the skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.
